Mike Hattrup with K2 Ski USA gives us a Sneak Peek of the 2013 K2 “BackDrop” skis. The 2013 K2 “BackDrop” is a new addition to K2′s “Back Series”. The ski is a “fat” alpine touring ski developed by K2. Built on a Alpine Touring platform derived from the K2 “WayBack” design, using a super lightweight core, K2′s “All-Terrain Rocker” and 112mm under foot, the ALL NEW 2013 K2 “BackDrop” is a floating machine for Alpine Touring and powder skiing. Using a light cap construction process, “SnoPhobic” topsheets to eliminate snow build-up, a fatter waist and camber under foot, K2 claims this ski will have “ideal edge hold and release while turning” creating “the perfect balance between float and agility for mid-winter touring or playful resort powder slaying.”
